Founded in 2002 by William John Thomas III, Apex Lock and Key is a full service locksmith serving Apex, Cary, Fuquay-Varina (NC) and surrounding areas. The locally owned and operated business provides automotive, commercial, residential and safes sales and service. In an industry littered with shifty entities, Apex Lock and Key knows the importance of standing out.

“We are the only ones with a retail locksmith shop in Morrisville, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs or Fuquay-Varina,” Thomas III declared. “We’ve won the Super Service Award from Angie’s List every year since 2008. And we have strong local ties.”

At their local storefront, Apex and Lock and Key offers re-keying and additional services. Ingrained in the community, Thomas III and his staff all grew up in the area. Part of the Associated Locksmiths of America and the Apex Chamber of Commerce, the business is well-versed in the needs of the area and the industry.

“We are licensed by the state and members of various business organizations,” Thomas III added. “We support local law enforcement and firefighters. To give back we train firefighters on how to gain quick entry in case of an emergency. We also offer free emergency infancy lockouts and donate locks.”

Apex Lock and Key is members of the North Carolina Sheriff Association and North Carolina Highway Patrol Association. Williams III elaborated on that commitment, “they know we go the extra mile to help out the community. Where others are hesitant, we are happy to lose money if it is for a good cause.”

In 10 plus years of experience, Thomas III has learned emerging technology gives you an advantage in the industry. Apex Lock and Key puts GPS, cloud-based and mobile technology in place to streamline efficiency.

“Communication is what we are after,” echoed Thomas III. “Mobile technology and other systems is our way of managing communication.”

The early adoption to technology is a reflection of Apex Lock and Key’s dedication to customer service. Thomas III continued, “the biggest thing is keeping track of all the information. You cannot get stuck in your ways and fall behind. What the best system was 10 years ago, is likely not the best option today.”
