It’s the fountain of youth for business longevity and it’s a well-kept secret. The best advertising is word of mouth recommendation. Your own customers raving about your outstanding service. But as the needs of your customers change, so do their options. So how do you keep up?
For the last 40 years, Marshall’s Locksmith has been providing remarkable service to residential and commercial customers across the state of North Carolina. The reputable family-run business features a staff with a combined experience of 175 years. Debbie Atkinson invited me into their 30,000 square foot custom facility in Raleigh to detail the history of the business.
“My father and mother started the business in 1973,” Atkinson explained. “We truly are an all-around locksmith. We have always had the reputation to solve problems, no matter how big or small. If something goes wrong, we are here for you.”
As one of many family members who grew up in the business, Atkinson has witnessed first-hand the evolution of the industry and business. Marshall’s Locksmith offers commercial, residential, automotive and emergency services ranging from gate locks to re-keying to ignition keys. In addition, the business carries several different products at their facility including Medeco High-Security locks, decorative hardware, padlocks, safes and vaults.
“We have a ton of walk-in traffic at our showroom,” said Atkinson. “Customers can conveniently bring locks directly to us and get keys cut in our warehouse. My father got us into Medeco many years ago. We are the only RBA-Authorized Medeco center in North Carolina.”
To view a variety products and to find the right security solution for your home or business you can visit the showroom at Marshall’s Locksmith. As an official Medeco security center, Marshall’s Locksmith has provided security solutions to several banks in the area. The Medeco locks set the standard for high security and key control.
As the industry has changed, the business continues to tailor the perfect solution for their loyal customers. The priorities of Marshall’s Locksmith always lie in your safety and the company has the awards to prove it. To demonstrate those priorities the business offers around the clock emergency services across a large service area.
“We have built a lot of relationships and word of mouth business,” Atkinson elaborated. “To me that is the best advertising we can do. We are members of several industry associations, including the North Carolina Locksmiths Association, and work together to further serve the state.”
Marshall’s Locksmith has forever utilized emerging technologies to efficiently serve customers. Each truck in the company’s fleet of vehicles is complete with a computer, printer and GPS device. Atkinson continued, “my father has always been on the lookout for new ways to help us. We started using computers in vans back in the 1980s. It allows us to anticipate the needs of our customers.”
Word of mouth recommendations do not come with a lock-in feature. Marshall’s Locksmith knows the industry, customers, and competition all change. The secret is they adapt and continue to delight their customers. Year after year.
